Independence Day 2012

Happy Fourth of July!!

God Bless the USA!

America’s Country is born and bred on the solid foundation of our great Nation! Years of aggressive development and innovation has brought us to such a high level of technological advancement! We are indeed proud to be American!

This Independence Day marks 236 years of being the United States of America! We celebrate our independence and freedoms every day but on July 4th, we focus our thoughts on what makes us who we are and how we got here.

Along with the fireworks and barbecues this year, please take a quiet moment to remember and imagine all those who nailed down our Constitution and fought fiercely to maintain and uphold that sacred document.

Because we live in America, we have the freedom to express our feelings. We have the freedom to fight for change. We have the opportunity and duty to take part in elections locally and nationally to give our individual voice to how we want to live.

Country Music is some of the most patriotic out there! We are honored to provide you with this great music to give you an emotional tie to our beliefs and our freedoms each day. This Independence Day, we will be featuring, along with our normal selection of Hot Country Hits, a great number of patriotic hymns, songs and expressions. We hope you enjoy it and if you want to participate, please leave us a voicemail on our Listener Line: 801-788-4916.

Thank you all and join me in my love, honor and respect for our Great United States of America!

Happy Independence Day!

-Tim

We LOVE Fathers!

I was doing some looking around and realized there are a lot of songs out there about daddy, pop, father, pa, etc… We want to honor them for all they do! This week, you’ll hear a lot of great Father Songs. I’ve tweaked them up so they play much more often. Here’s a quick sampling of what you’ll hear:

  • Glen Templeton – That’s My Job (Excellent cover of a classic Conway Twitty song)
  • Tim McGraw – My Little Girl
  • George Strait – Love Without End, Amen; The Best Day; The Breath You Take
  • Reba McEntire – The Greatest Man I Never Knew
  • Alan Jackson – Drive (for Daddy Gene)
  • Brad Paisley – Anything Like Me; He Didn’t Have To Be
  • Bucky Covington – A Father’s Love (The Only Way He Knew How)
  • Gary Allen – Tough Little Boys
  • Kenny Chesney – There Goes My Life
  • Rodney Atkins – He’s Mine; Watching You; Cleaning This Gun
  • Trace Adkins – You’re Gonna Miss This
  • Lonestar – I’m Already There; My Front Porch Looking In
  • Tracy Lawrence – ‘Til I Was A Daddy Too

And so much more!

We all love our Dads and we want to be sure he is recognized and honored! Father’s Day is June 17th and we’ll feature these songs and more through that time!

If you have more ideas for great country music Father songs, please comment!

Thank you and Happy Father’s Day!

2012 What’s Next?

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! As you’re enjoying these wonderful times with your family and loved ones and our excellent, if not downright weird, Christmas Music selection, I wanted to at least hint at some changes coming next year for America’s Country. These are not major changes but some evolutionary changes.

One of the changes you’ll notice almost right away is that we will not be playing music from the 90’s. I really LOVE the 90’s and could someday see creating a station based on mainly 90’s Country. Meanwhile, to keep our focus on what’s hot and fresh (like that pie your sweet Grandma just baked!), we are keeping our music in this century. We have a great library of songs from 2000 to now that will entertain you and keep a grin on your face. We will also still be able to keep our repeats to a minimum and our variety at a maximum!

Something else we’re looking at for 2012 are some new partnerships with great Country Music news publishers. We’re building relationships with sites like Got Country? and CountryMusicIsLove to ensure you are up to date on the latest news and notes from Nashville. We are making changes to our website to include more news and info from these great sources and these news releases will be posted on our page as well as on our Twitter, Facebook and G+ accounts. We are hoping to get more interaction from the artists as well. This should be a lot of fun and informative and keep you coming back for more!

I can’t get much more into details at this point. There needs to be a teaser to get your interest! I will post more here and on our social media pages as things continue to progress!

Please have a very Merry Christmas and a fun and safe New Year’s! Thank you for making 2011 such a successful and enjoyable first year for us at America’s Country!

Halloween 2010!!

Alright, kiddies… We’re getting to that time of year where ghouls and ghosts and goblins come out to play! They’ve just started taking over the KXRT playlist! From now through Halloween, our 80’s, HUGE Variety and FreAkY FrIDay playlists will feature at least one Halloween tune per hour! As we get nearer to All Hallows Eve, that will increase!

We love Halloween here at KXRT and, like so many years past, we will have our Big Halloween Broadcast again! For years, we’ve provided a day full of great spooky music, ghost stories and more that culminates in a full re-broadcast of Orson Welles’ The War of the Worlds! We play the entire broadcast from 1938 where thousands of people were convinced that aliens were indeed attacking our world.

This all has become a tradition that has surpassed whatever format or name this station has had. Leading up to the re-broadcast, we will have a live show with your call-ins. You’ll share your own scary stories and Halloween memories. We are adding more and more Halloween music and sounds to our library and are very excited to present it to you! If you’d like to add a suggestion of a song or pre-record your memory or story, please email us at studio@kxrtonline.com.

Thank you for listening to KXRT! Happy Halloween!
