We’re Moving!

We’re Moving!

We're Moving!

Yep! We’re moving… Kinda. We are moving to a new stream host server. Hopefully, this will not cause any interruptions to our streams. Because this is technology, it may and we appreciate your understanding.

Why? We are moving to a new system that will provide a better overall experience. The servers are in a world-class data center with redundancy and fail-over capabilities so we can keep streaming with very little to no interruptions. This is also under a new non-profit organization. This saves us loads of money as the billing structure is quite different for non-profits versus standard music streaming on the internet.

As silly as it sounds, our commercials should also be better. We still need to pay so there will still be advertising on the station and on our website. Please visit our sponsors and click on the banners to support our operations and keep us on the air.

Our stream launch page will be going away, for now. We’re trying to figure out a way to bring it back and we’ll let you know when that happens. Meanwhile, we’ll update our links as soon as possible and you shouldn’t notice anything. You’ll not have to change your links or favorites. One casualty of this move is we’re losing our station listing on Apple’s iTunes Internet Radio. Apple is slowly discontinuing that service and as part of that process, they are not allowing new listings or changes to existing listings. You can still listen to us through iTunes, by pasting our URL in File > Open Stream.

We will continue to have our station listed in as many listing services as possible. Mainly, TuneIn.com will be available and is the most popular site for streaming radio. We’re also listed at nRadio, Streema.com, and many others. If you know of some more listing sites, please let me know.

This transition should take only a couple of weeks and again, you all shouldn’t notice any of these changes. Please move from iTunes to TuneIn or some other listening page. As we notice things that may disrupt service, we’ll try to keep you informed.

As always, thank you so much for listening and being part of our family!

Love ya!

Now on iTunes!

Earlier this week, we reached a killer milestone! We were listed on iTunes! Due to the popularity of this application, we’ve seen an enormous amount of growth and have had some trouble freeing up listener slots on our servers. This will really propel America’s Country into an excellent position for growth and success!

iTunes, if you’re not familiar is a product of Apple Computers. It’s a media player but also much more. You can link into the iTunes Store and download music, movies and some TV show episodes for viewing on your home computer or compatible mobile devices. iTunes has been around since January 1st, 2001 and just passed it’s 10th anniversary. Because it’s compatible with both Mac and PC systems, the reach of iTunes is incredible and keeps growing!

Due to this incredible audience, you might find it difficult to stream from iTunes. You can always stream from any of the other links on our main page. If you need help using iTunes or any of the other connections, please look in the “How To Listen” page, linked above. We are looking for ideas on how to increase our capacity. We are always accept donations with the Donate button.

We’re extremely happy with this news and look forward to further growth! Thank you for choosing America’s Country!

Listen Now with iTunes!

overview_download20090909Apple just released their new version of iTunes. Version 9 includes a number of great new features but the best one I can think of is the long absent ability to play an AAC+ stream! Our high quality stream is a 64kbps AAC+ stream and has long struggled to have wider player compatibility. Now with this addition, the streaming format can really explode!

If you have iTunes now and haven’t been prompted to update, head to the Help menu way up at the very top and in that menu, choose Check for Updates. This will get things rolling for you.

If you do not have iTunes, it’s a great player and the iTunes Store is incredible to get not only music but movies, TV shows and podcasts. Head to this LINK or click the iTunes graphic to download your own copy.

You will not automatically see a link to KXRT in the Radio section, yet. To get our stream running, up at the top, click Advanced and then Open Audio Stream. It will open a box to type in a URL. Use this URL for the HQ AAC+ stream: OR, for the MP3 mobile stream: Then hit OK and it should start streaming.

To save this as a favorite, click on the Music on the navigation pane. KXRT should appear at the top of that list. Go to File then New Playlist. Name it KXRT or whatever. Click back on the Music item and drag the KXRT item into that new playlist you just made. You can also right-click on the KXRT item and choose Add to Playlist > KXRT (or whatever you called it). You should do this as you will otherwise have to enter that URL each time.

This is exciting news and should really propel KXRT to the next level! Please pass this around to your friends and family and let them know listening to us has just gotten TONS easier!
