Are you a writer??

[important]We are looking for some volunteers to add their skills as writers to this site! If you would like to be part of the team, shoot me an email:[/important]

I’m looking for those who can scour the media and social networks to post high quality and hard-hitting news from what’s going on in the world of Country music! I’m looking for various styles of writing, from opinion to news to just random trivia-like articles.

As I mentioned, this is strictly volunteer so you won’t get paid. But you will get full credit for your articles and can use them in any future endeavors you may have.

I will continue to write articles about what is happening with America’s Country and any other items I want to write about.

In your email, please send along some samples of your writing. They can be excerpts pasted in or links to articles you’d like me to read.

You MUST entirely and completely LOVE Country music! You need to know the artists and their music. You will also need to be willing to respond to reader comments and do so. You obviously need to be able to write well. At first, I will only need one article per week from you. I will be looking for about 3-5 volunteers at first and will continue to adapt and adjust as needed.

All your articles will be on this site as well as a like posted to the America’s Country Facebook page and Twitter accounts.

Please pass this post around to your friends or co-workers! I need a lot of exposure to get this project off the ground in a hurry! Post the link to this article on your Facebook and Twitter accounts! Do whatever you can to get the word out!

This should be an exciting new development to the culture that is America’s Country!

We LOVE Fathers!

I was doing some looking around and realized there are a lot of songs out there about daddy, pop, father, pa, etc… We want to honor them for all they do! This week, you’ll hear a lot of great Father Songs. I’ve tweaked them up so they play much more often. Here’s a quick sampling of what you’ll hear:

  • Glen Templeton – That’s My Job (Excellent cover of a classic Conway Twitty song)
  • Tim McGraw – My Little Girl
  • George Strait – Love Without End, Amen; The Best Day; The Breath You Take
  • Reba McEntire – The Greatest Man I Never Knew
  • Alan Jackson – Drive (for Daddy Gene)
  • Brad Paisley – Anything Like Me; He Didn’t Have To Be
  • Bucky Covington – A Father’s Love (The Only Way He Knew How)
  • Gary Allen – Tough Little Boys
  • Kenny Chesney – There Goes My Life
  • Rodney Atkins – He’s Mine; Watching You; Cleaning This Gun
  • Trace Adkins – You’re Gonna Miss This
  • Lonestar – I’m Already There; My Front Porch Looking In
  • Tracy Lawrence – ‘Til I Was A Daddy Too

And so much more!

We all love our Dads and we want to be sure he is recognized and honored! Father’s Day is June 17th and we’ll feature these songs and more through that time!

If you have more ideas for great country music Father songs, please comment!

Thank you and Happy Father’s Day!

February is HOT!

Typically, February isn’t known as a month that brings warm weather, much less hot! I’ve got two big announcements that will make February cook!

Announcement #1: The Bobby D Show is back! Starting Feb. 1st at 6am Mountain, we’re bringing Bobby Back! We were carrying his show before all the holidays last fall and we miss him! He will be back with all his news, celebrity gossip and killer interviews! Bobby D puts on a great show! He has callers, guests and even some great contests. We’re thrilled to be bringing back the Bobby D Show!

Announcement #2: For those who have been around for some time, remember when we played a HUGE variety of pop/rock/country and were called KXRT. Our weekend shows included a very talented host named DJ Mike. He is now back and counts down the top 10 country hits on his weekly show, The DJ Mike Hot Country Throwdown! Along with the 10 biggest, DJ Mike also plays some great music from the past 20 years and has our favorite artists talking about their music and their lives. The show will play Saturday nights at 7pm Mountain and we invite you to check it out!

Bonus Announcement: (Yeah, we hooked you up with extra!) The former host of The ACC Top 20, Stephen Keogh has been chosen as the new voice of America’s Country! We’re excited to have his great Irish accent filling the spaces between the songs! His voice should add a touch of class and be very unique!

Thank you all for listening to America’s Country in 2012! If you ever need anything, please email me directly: Or, you can always comment on our social media pages and call 801-788-4916. Happy Valentine’s Day!

2012 What’s Next?

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! As you’re enjoying these wonderful times with your family and loved ones and our excellent, if not downright weird, Christmas Music selection, I wanted to at least hint at some changes coming next year for America’s Country. These are not major changes but some evolutionary changes.

One of the changes you’ll notice almost right away is that we will not be playing music from the 90’s. I really LOVE the 90’s and could someday see creating a station based on mainly 90’s Country. Meanwhile, to keep our focus on what’s hot and fresh (like that pie your sweet Grandma just baked!), we are keeping our music in this century. We have a great library of songs from 2000 to now that will entertain you and keep a grin on your face. We will also still be able to keep our repeats to a minimum and our variety at a maximum!

Something else we’re looking at for 2012 are some new partnerships with great Country Music news publishers. We’re building relationships with sites like Got Country? and CountryMusicIsLove to ensure you are up to date on the latest news and notes from Nashville. We are making changes to our website to include more news and info from these great sources and these news releases will be posted on our page as well as on our Twitter, Facebook and G+ accounts. We are hoping to get more interaction from the artists as well. This should be a lot of fun and informative and keep you coming back for more!

I can’t get much more into details at this point. There needs to be a teaser to get your interest! I will post more here and on our social media pages as things continue to progress!

Please have a very Merry Christmas and a fun and safe New Year’s! Thank you for making 2011 such a successful and enjoyable first year for us at America’s Country!
