New design and more!

Hi folks! I want to just bring you up to date with some of the cool and exciting changes going on. Most recently, we worked with a great company to design a new look for America’s Country. We’ve made all the changes and are super excited about this! We’ve had some great looking representation of our brand up to this point but this is a major improvement. If you’re around and still see any of our old logos still out there, please hit me up and we’ll get it taken care of.

We’ve also made some more improvements to our audio. We truly strive to be the best sounding Hot Country Hits station in the world! Thanks to great technology like digital processing from Stereo Tool and music playback and scheduling from Station Playlist, we are very confident that we will achieve our goal! Click the highlighted items above to find out more about these great tools.

To help support us, there are many ways. You can always visit and purchase products from our sponsors who have their ads on the air. You can click on banner ads on our web sites (please disable your ad blocker tools!). And you can make a donation with our PayPal links. Now, we added an Amazon.com shopping widget on our main website. The cool thing here is that you make the same purchases at the same prices from Amazon, and they pay us back! All of this is designed to be available for you but not be obnoxious and get in your way. We appreciate all that you do to support America’s Country. Thank you all!

Thank you all for your support and for listening to America’s Country!

Maintenance Planned – 4/5 – and other news

voice_over_gary-owensFriends,

We have some really great upgrades and fixes we need to apply to our main station server. It will require some downtime, but we plan to have a backup server running. Hopefully the transition between will be seamless and we won’t have any actual downtime.

We have a new SSD drive to install, plenty of updates and other tweaks we’ve been holding off on. Ultimately, the main purpose is to make our station more reliable, robust and available.

We’re also making adjustments to our music selection. We’re trying to play even more big hits, more often so you can enjoy listening all day. We are excited to have excellent programming to compliment our already fantastic music selection.

Each weekday, we have The 90s @ Noon and The 90s Drive @ 5. Two full hours of commercial 90s Country hits. On the weekends, we have several shows that bring diversity and excitement to you. On Saturdays, we have two shows that feature and celebrate Texas Country. Also known as Red Dirt, this fun and gritty music plays for two hours at Noon with the CD-Tex Radio show and for another two hours at 7pm on the Texas Country Music Countdown. On Sundays, we have Big Country USA at Noon with two hours of the best country and artist interviews, contests and a lot of fun. At 7pm, The Hot Country Countdown presents the 20 biggest songs in the industry.

We thank you for choosing us. Out of the thousands of Country stations online and on the radio, we’re extremely humbled and honored that you continue to choose us! We welcome and encourage your feedback and ideas. Please comment here or any of our social media pages with anything you’d like to share. Thank you again for being the best fans and friends!

Love ya!

We keep moving and shaking!

movers-and-shakersIt’s official! We’re a full-on, completely legal and legitimate business! We welcome as our owner, SuiteSounds Entertainment, LLC!

Nothing changes as far as what you hear on the station. I just created the LLC to help protect my family and I and ensure all the details are in order to keep us on the air and hopefully keep growing and performing!

This may not seem super exciting to most of you, but I am even more encouraged that we are positioned for continued growth and progression. The internet radio business is still new and as such, can be quite competitive and very unpredictable.

Again, I want to stress that this will change nothing about our station. I haven’t sold it to anyone. It’s now under a parent company and is more protected.

Thank you all for your continued support and love!

America’s Country!

As you might have heard or read on Facebook, starting January 1st at midnight, KXRT will begin playing a Hot Country music format and be called America’s Country! Due to the increasing popularity and success of Country music radio, TV and other media, we felt it was our best opportunity to make this change. We’ve been playing a lot of Country music as it was this past year and we feel this is a natural evolution. Research also shows that while the Internet allows for more flexibility and creativity, the same standards hold true: people that like Country music will typically not like Rock or R&B and likewise, people who like Rock or R&B will generally not like Country. We feel like with hot artists such as Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum, Kenny Chesney and Rascal Flatts, there’s a lot of fans out there that will be charged up about a commercial-free, upbeat, Hot Country Internet station.

We will design our playlists with the hot, new Country hits that are topping the charts as the main focus. We will also reach back to the last two decades of big Country hits ad mix them in for variety and fun. You’ll hear Jason Aldean along with Clint Black and Lady A along with Garth Brooks. It will be a lot of fun to listen to for hours while you’re at work or at home. We will keep the tempo hot and not bog you down with a lot of slow, sappy ballads! It will be energetic, upbeat and fun!

We are very excited and charged up about this new direction. 2011 will be a landmark year for KXRT. America’s Country also lends itself to being patriotic. You’ll hear specials on National Holidays like Veteran’s Day, Patriot Day and more. We will continue to broadcast our Country-related weekend programming. We love Stephen Keogh’s ACC Top 20 and I will resume producing the Weekly Top 10. The Timmy LIVE! Show, as previously posted about, will return in some fashion probably in late Q1 2011. I still need to recreate it to match our new format. We will also keep our Sunday LDS music programming.

All of our links and websites will remain the same. This main webpage, the Facebook Page, the Twitters and our email and phone number will all remain as they currently are. The name KXRT will still be referred to but in a more limited fashion. We love the call letters KXRT, but we want to give center stage to our new moniker, America’s Country.

Our plan for the last few days of 2010 will be to keep playing 100% Christmas Music while we tweak and adjust as well as load our server with all the hot, new Country to be ready for our launch on New Year’s! Please be patient as we will be doing a lot of work on things and the stream may go down or have other trouble during this time. We will also be adjusting the sound and you might hear some widely varying sound levels and quality. We’ll try to keep things sounding good, but we wanted to better inform you so you know what you can expect.

Your input and ideas are always welcome! Please contact us through our many ways, email: studio@kxrtonline.com, Phone: 801-788-4916, Facebook comment, Website comment, Tweet: twitter.com/KXRT, any number of ways to reach us. We look forward to hearing from you!

Enjoy the rest of 2010 and we hope to have you listening just after you celebrate the New Year to help us celebrate the launch of America’s Country!

New Playlist Strategy

Feedback

Due to some feedback I’ve received recently, I’ve begun to create playlists a bit differently. If you read on the About page, under Formula, you’d see that I play songs in a 2+1 format. This would be two Country songs and a non-Country tune, like Rock or Pop. Then I’d play a jingle or some promo to split that up. Starting today (10/5), I am now following the advice and your feedback that says the transition from the typically more mellow Country songs into what could be a very intense Rock song or aggressive Alternative cut was very abrupt.

Our formula for Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays is now 2X2. Two Country songs, a jingle, then two non-Country tunes, wash, rinse and repeat. My hesitance on this has always been the amount of non-music interruptions that happen as the hours pass would be quite high. I’ve listened to radio stations, online and on the radio and have noticed that still most stations will play some sort of non-music element (imaging) between each song.

As always, the floor is yours. Please comment with your feelings after some time of listening to the new formula. Is it better? Is it worse? You tell me!

By the way, on our special days, we will still do three songs in a row, then some imaging, then three more songs. The transition difficulty wouldn’t be there in those cases.

Thanks for listening to KXRT!
